You’ve munched your way through your favourite tin of chocolates, even the coffee ones! What’s next for the tin?
Reusing or repurposing these tins is a great idea. There are so many ways to make the most of the tin. Metal recycling is endlessly recyclable too so if you can’t repurpose or re-use, please recycle them. The correct bin is the red bin.
You’re about to do the pre Christmas big shop; what’s on your mind?
Over 2 million turkeys, 5 million Christmas puddings and 74 million mince pies get disposed while still edible causing over 270,000 tons of food waste at Christmas. Thinking about what you buy, planning your meals and organising your fridge are easy-to-implement ways to reduce food waste.
Santa has been kind – so many beautiful gifts, but what do you do with all the wrapping paper that’s left?
Some wrapping paper, such as foil and glitter, isn’t suitable for recycling. Remove all sticky tape, ribbons and bows as these aren’t suitable for recycling. You can tell if wrapping paper is recyclable, by scrunching it up, if it doesn’t scrunch up easily it probably isn’t suitable. Recycle in the blue bin.
You can’t believe your luck. You’ve only received the latest all-singing, all-dancing mobile phone! But what do you do with your existing one?
Mobile phones contain a range of materials including metals and plastics which can be extracted and re-used. Please ensure your personal data is removed before you pass it on for recycling! Please place them in a plastic bag and put them on the top of your red recycle bin.
What do you do with the grotto load of toy packaging and cardboard boxes that’s left after Santa and his reindeers have been?
Cardboard is very versatile, you can re-use the clean side of the packaging for notes or drawing, and repurpose with fabric to create something rather splendid for your home. Cardboard is widely recycled. Please remember to flatten the boxes before you put them in your blue recycle bin.
